Animal Companions

What could be better than having an animal companion in your life?  People who have canine companions have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, decreased feelings of anxiety, stress, and in general are healthier than the average member of the population.  Sharing our lives with animals can mitigate the effects of loneliness and is beneficial to the animals as well.   There are other health benefits that can be gained from walking a dog:  a leaner body, a more active lifestyle, and unexpected social opportunities.  Animals provide excellent companionship.  They are nonjudgmental, give unconditional love, and are highly trainable.

Cats can take care of themselves with proper food, water, and a place for their waste.  They are fun, funny and curious and seem to know when something is wrong in the life of their owner.  Cats will cuddle along side you for a nap maintaining a close connection with the one person they can trust.

For children, it can increase their self-esteem, create a sense of responsibility and competence.  It enhances respect and value for all living beings.

Dogs and cats are always glad to see us no matter when we come home.  Animals can provide comfort and bring us joy.
